happy birthday dad ♡

Today is my darling dad's birthday! 

My dad is a photographer, and an amazing one at that. I didn't inherit his skills but he did teach me how to be a pro at Photoshop. I think I'm definitely a mix of both my parents but me and my dad share our sense of humour, our creativity, our blue eyes, and the way we look at the world. He is a great fashion + beauty photographer but his personal photographs are my favourite. He's been all over the world and has beautiful + interesting photos to show for it. Here are just a few of them, all taken in Paris in the 70's/80's(more to come ☺ )

Other poems I like but are not relevant are the two Charles Bukowski wrote for his lady, Jane, after her death.

How terribly sad. I love these parts. I didn't want to copy-paste the whole poems for fear of making this blog too my-private-journal-circa-2007 but you can read the full poems here.

first day of christmas

The Twelve Days of Christmas have begun + it's time to let that Christmas-y feeling be dragged on for 12 more days in the form of some themed blogposts. I did some Google-ing and discovered all the fun gifts described in the song all refer to bo-ring Christian stuff. Why do they have to ruin everything? Leave Christmas alone!

I just spent a really long time gooshing over sexy-sweaters.com only to discover that none of the sweatshirts are for real :( WTF. I'm feeling genuinely sad now; I had my heart set on the Louis Tomlinson one

tales of the unexpected

Today my friend gave me a vintage edition of British Vogue (December 2008). I looved this Roald Dahl-inspired shoot!

My best Dahl character when I was young was his naughty version of Red Riding Hood. One time I dressed up as her for National Book Day and I made it into the Rondebosch Tatler, just incase you had been wondering where you recognised my face from.
