may dance

The Ballet

Like a dream becoming reality the Ballerina Project is a series of photographs created by photographer: Dane Shitagi... The project has  been photographed entirely on traditional photographic film and not with modern digital cameras. The majority of ballerinas who have posed for the project are professional dancers and the minority are advanced ballet students in renown dance schools.

These images of ballerinas doing their thing in the city are so beautiful and non-cheesey (as ballet photography often is). I did ballet for a very long time ("Reeeally?!" is always peoples' reaction; Gee thanks, guys!) and was pretty terrible at it. The amount of strength, control and dedication required is mind-blowing and admirable

there're many more photos HERE

p.s. I'm a sucker for a good documentary, particularly one that falls in the Child Prodigy category (watch THIS and THIS, if that's what you're into too), and have really been looking forward to 'First Position' since I watched the thrilling trailer a while ago

I've been searching for somewhere to watch it online but get NSFW results if ya know what I mean :(

wardrobe wonderland

Walk-In Wardrobes

I've always wanted one
Growing up, the room next to mine would've been perfect. I had big plans to turn it into my dream wardrobe, but my parents were all ''you can't do that, your brother lives in that room'' or whatever.

Seeing as I'm prone to moving (8 times in 3 years, yeah!) I don't like to make myself too at home so I've set up a make-shift wannabe walk-in wardrobe/clothing nook for myself in my current room.

just enough space for little old me to fit between

I just need a nice mirror in the middle and I'm all set to recreate classic scenes from every chick flick ever

also, pretty jealous of all of these handsome examples...

she bangs the drums

I have a fun tutorial for D.I.Y. Sunday but will only be posting it tomorrow as my self-takey photo skills are KAK and am going to have to rope someone into helping me photograph in the morning. Here's a taster of what is to come

 oo-er!

I have been growing out my fringe for what feels like years now, just 'cause I've had one for so long and thought I should mix it up a little. THEN I spied this babe on ASOS and my life (hair = life) changed

!!!

Natasha at Scar on Kloof did a lovely job (I think so anyways). She listened really well and actually understood the word TRIM, yay!

hi!

a braided headband looks so pretty but it a bit tricky to do. Here is a helpful video for ya

p.s. wouldn't you love to have hair like Nadia Esra?

p.p.s. I just attempted to blow-dry my hair like Natasha did; genuinely look like these ladies right now

see darling the moon and the sand

Sébastien Tellier - Look

This video is so hypnotic and naughty and COOL that after a while I totally forgot I was just staring at an animated ass walking forwards.

I and my Daisy Bell

 denim shirt - Primark // daisy-print playsuit - H&M // takkies/sneakers - Reebok

Today someone at work said I reminded them of the movie 'Working Girl' with my white takkies in the office. I Google-ed the reference and didn't spot any sneakers BUT my breath was taken away by their hairstyles…!

what is UP with that fringe area?!

grazia ♥

I got my mitts on the launch issue of Grazia South Africa

I've been really interested/excited/skeptical about it since I heard my FAV mag was coming over here. It was something I really looked forward to every Tuesday when I lived in London. I'd get off at Sloane Square Station, buy Grazia at the news agents and walk down Kings' Road feeling all posh and stuff.

…and I loved the first issue! It was a great mix of local + international brands and stories. I've always enjoyed how Grazia will shamelessly declare a £4000 Louis Vuitton bag a 'must-have' but features the odd affordable item too, and the SA copy didn't disappoint.

I didn't expect Grazia SA to have such a huge Goodie Bag competition on the back page but yay they do :)

look at this lovely coat! Katherine Mortner R1200

I'm happy to have such a great magazine to look forward to every week! I left my copy in the lounge and it's been well-read by all my housemates (and their boyfriends) too :)

p.s. did ya notice my sparkly nails? Sure you did, here's how I got them so fab-u-lous

1 undercoat of a colour + a few coats of glitter polish (one coat looks to sparse for my liking)

hiya!

when i grow up

I started my new job as a fashion + beauty intern at a magazine! I love being able to dress nicely every day, much better than my previous job which required me to wear double denim :(
It's just as exciting + fun as the movies would have you believe

shirt - friend of my mom // dress - a stand at the YMAEWK market which I have lived in since I bought it on Friday // bag - Vintage Lover // shoes - Mr Price

I love my new shoes SO MUCH. I wish I had them in red too

puppy love

we-are-handsome have done it again, stolen my heart with their latest range of swimwear/digital-print Lycra beauties

I also made some high-waisty bikini bottoms in rose-print! Clearly I'm on to something/these guys are spying on my work…clearly!

OBVIOUSLY the prize goes to this one. A puppy!
