List : New Year Resolutions

I've got a long list of new year resolutions but by now have read roughly 1 million blog posts of other peoples' and am BORED so here's someone else's list:
Thursday January 1stThese are my New Year’s resolutions:
  1. I will help the blind across the road.
  1. I will hang my trousers up.
  1. I will put the sleeves back on my records.
  1. I will not start smoking.
  1. I will stop squeezing my spots.
  1. I will be kind to the dog.
  1. I will help the poor and ignorant.
  1. After hearing the disgusting noises from downstairs last night, I have also vowed never to drink alcohol.
My father got the dog drunk on cherry brandy at the party last night. If the RSPCA hear about it he could get done. Eight days have gone by since Christmas Day but my mother still hasn’t worn the green lurex apron I bought her for Christmas! She will get bathcubes next year.

Recognise this extract? If you don't please make your new year's resolution to READ ALL THE ADRIAN MOLE BOOKS. If you already enjoy Adrian then do yourself a favour and follow THIS TWITTER for hilarious extracts from his diaries.

P.S. my very favourite quote is the line "I would sooner wash a corpse" - what a drama queen

List: shoes please

This time of year it's hard not to make imaginary Christmas lists. I always get a bit carried away on ModCloth.com...today it was their shoes (and socks - look at those cats!) that got me
…for dancing
…for pretending like you still go to school
…for stamping about town

List: 13 things I love about Observatory ♥

I've lived in Observatory for 2 years now. Some days I hate it (so windy! so many people trying to break into my house!) but most days I love it. In fact I almost always get that song that goes "'cause I la lala lala love my hood" [who sings that song?] stuck in my head when I'm wandering around Lower Main Road, partly because I DO la lala lala love my hood, and partly because everyone here has those 'I ♥ MY HOOD' stickers on their cars.

Obz probably makes you think of dirty drinking holes, dodgy muggers and bare-footed hippies, but here are some things that quintessentially Obz for me

1. All the pretty buildings. If you're going to live in Observatory, you've got to live in one of the many Victorian beauties. The first Obz house I lived in was not quite this (think dry walls, rot, and a public telephone in the hallway - yes, really) but our current house is totally fancy (stained glass windows and a shower room - ooh!).

2. Being the arty/hippie area of Cape Town of course the locals couldn't resist painting our electricity boxes all pretty and Cape Town-y

3. Another Obs architectural masterpiece: our very own Trump Towers

4. I've seen some of the strangest sights on Lower Main. Not least of all was this lady carrying hair extensions in one hand and a (live) chicken in the other. Just a casual Saturday afternoon then

5. Colin. If you know Obs then you must know Colin, either by sight or smell. There used to be a really realistic & ultra creepy portrait of him in the art shop but I guess someone has bought it (who are you? why are you?)
These are his 'things' that he leaves around, often on our stoep. Me and Colin are not friends. Our friendship broke down after he said to me "you're a piece of dirt and I don't care what happens to you" when I refused to give him R120 "in R20 notes".

6. Our surprisingly and worryingly noisy neighbours

7. The dogs of Obz. I love seeing a cutie waiting outside Spar (like the excitable Beagle above - note the blurry tail) or the Boxer in the second hand shop (lying on the merchandise).

8. Boerewors rolls on the side of the road aka Obz Dogs aka don't eat these things no matter how good they smell from across the road.

9. Observatory's only commercial club, Barmooda, burnt down earlier this year. It's a pity about the nice-looking building, although I think the charred remains are quite nice-looking too.

10. The undeniably creepy Kiddie Rides building. It's full of old carousels and clowns and the perfect setting for a horror film. Also I once got mugged outside here in my youth :(

11. Obz residents love their hookahs, and now they can enjoy hookers too!

12. My favourite junk shop Munro's ALWAYS has something to buy. I got this miniature gold piano for R10!

13. Every time I walk out of Spar this sign gets me. Smiling: you're doing it wrong

Have a lovely weekend! xxx

List : Great Glee Screen-Shots

are you enjoying the new Glee? I am lovin' it. I couldn't resist a screen-shot of Britney's World's Best Grandma sweatshirt (I must own it!) and then realised I have a LOT of Glee screen-shots.

Ms. Pillsbury's 'So You're a Two-Timin' Ho' flyer

Kurt's awesome collar-tips (it's not so clear here but they're HORSE HEADS!)

Sue and Beiste's wedding hats

This episode was boring, but those outfits got me!

Remember when they re-made MJ's music video for 'Black or White', including the bit where everyone's faces morph into one anothers…I paused between people; can you guess who these grotesque hybrids are?

1. Artie/Quinn 2. Santana/Rory 3. Mike/Rachel

Locker art at it's cutest

this is my best one. I can't remember the context, which makes it even better…look at that face!

Have a lovely weekend everybody, I hope to see you at tomorrow's market ♥
