feed me

For fear of having peppermint crisp tart for the 12th year in a row, I offered to handle Christmas pudding. I'm quiiite a fan of sweet treats so really enjoyed trolling the internet for recipes. Here's what I'd like to make (I find this all very exciting-looking so am hitting caps lock NOW) :

CHOCOLATE PANCAKES WITH STRAWBERRIES AND CREAM INSIDE (YOU CAN'T TELL BUT I BET THERE'S ALSO SOMETHING OUTRAGEOUS LIKE NUTELLA IN THERE TOO)

List: shoes please

This time of year it's hard not to make imaginary Christmas lists. I always get a bit carried away on ModCloth.com...today it was their shoes (and socks - look at those cats!) that got me
…for dancing
…for pretending like you still go to school
…for stamping about town

oh! you beautiful doll | Les Culottes d'Hippolyte

Hanging out in just panties is me + my housemates' new fav thing (YUS for living with girls!) and made me think of this photo series by French photographer Chloe Prigent. Over a year he's photographed anonymous girls in their underwear/flashing their culottes in a really cute/cheeky/little bit naughty way - so nice!

all photos via the Les Culottes d'Hippolyte
p.s. in the new year I'll be making some underwear ♥

feels like we only go backwards

crafty sunday : gifting

I love this season 'cause ... PRESENTS.

The gift of giving is a real thing - whatta feeling! I've started using fabric as wrapping paper 'cause a) it looks so pretty and b) spending money on wrapping paper seems gross; fabric is reusable! Buy yourself some pinking shears (aka zig-zag-y scissors) for general fabric craftiness. The zig zag edges prevent fraying so you don't have to do any bo-ring hemming, yay.
I made my friend a little bag for a ring and fabric cards for earrings, HOW NICE, RIGHT♥
P.S. HERE are some nice-y gift ideas

short & sweet

if you're looking for something nice and new to do on Tuesday evenings come to its a house for the Short & Sweet screenings:
A different selection of the finest short films, music videos and short animations from around the world are screened each week, from established directors to new talent. The aim is to ce
lebrate film and take audiences on a journey: creatively, personally and emotionally.
I've been twice now and have watched all sorts of films, including some really cool animations, some awkward British comedy at it's best, and a surprisingly raunchy tale of a blind woman wearing a knitted body-suit in the forest.
This week one of the films shown was a music video featuring Josie Borain by the band Bicycle Thief. It's a mixture of her now and old footage of her in her modelling days. The old footage is SO beautiful: Josie & her babe then-husband Swiggy + Paris + birds...oh it's just dreamy. It's a nice song too so have a watch/listen:

First of all watching this made me totally jealous, 'cause UGH what an exciting life, and secondly really inspired me to start VIDEO-ing life instead of just photographing it. So I've started filming things. So far I've just got some really gripping footage of a cheese platter and my room (life's pretty wild right now, guys) but it's a start.

The next Short & Sweet is the last one in 2012 and they'll be showing the best shorts of the year. There are beanbags and wine and popcorn and nice people so you should come and I'll see you there ♥

d.i.y. Sunday : bag + chain

Clutch bags, hey. They look cute but are super impractical and a mugger's dream. I turned this one I got at a market into a usable bag with a bit of ribbon and some gold chain from the haberdashery.

welcome home

Yesterday was a big deal for me & my clothes as they went on sale at the newly opened 'its a house'. I feel really lucky to have been asked to be a part of this really exciting and inspiring space, thanks guys!
its a house …is a ‘bespoke lifestyle’ , a creative concept geared toward creating an environment where people can embody and express their inner creative energy.
An integrated space which promotes interaction, collaboration and offers comfort in a home type ambience where creativity and imagination can breed with ease.
The place is amazing. It's run by really lovely + creative + welcoming guys who encourage you to make yourself at home (I had a tough time tearing myself away to go back to my real house). The place is full of cool things to look at (there's a pram full of candy!) and to do (have coffee!/get tattoos!/watch some short films!/..!). Sounds kinda mind-blowing, right? I took some photos to give you an idea but you should go check it out yourself
the lounge where you can sit and read one of their many books (I enjoyed the Edwardian Life in Pictures)

welcome home!
THINGS I'd like to steal for my house

…and when I asked for a glass of water I got one with a plate of Sour Worms ♥

tonight they're hosting the Short & Sweet Summer Screenings which should be good fun. Get your tickets here and I'll see you there

lately

I've been so busy pattern-making/cutting/stitching/pressing this week. Here are some snippets from what's been happening in studio featuring: my new iron (!), new threads, older shirts waiting to be joined by new shirts, and some good old-fashioned hand stitching.
