birthday!

I just realised today marks a year since I went public with my blog!

I'd been working on it in secret for a while but finally got the guts (blogging is scary, guys) to share a post with my friends (last year's Kamersvol) on this day a year ago.

I wanted to say thank you to everyone out there who reads this thing 'cause I truly appreciate it. Every comment, every share, every like, every (drunken) confession of 'I love your blog!', it all makes me so happy! My Statistics page shows me that Puppy Club is actually being read (today also marks 80 000 views!) all over the world, and is becoming more popular by the month :) I've got all sorts of exciting plans for the blog in the upcoming months so stick around, and like my facebook page to keep up to date

Thanks guys, so much!

Love,

Andie

Heritage Day

We didn't feel like braai-ing so went for a walk through Greenpoint Park to Seapoint for a game of Putt Putt. This part of Cape Town always makes me think of soft serves with flakes in them, listening to the Michael Jackson's '97 concert from a distance at my grandparents' house, and totally beating my brother to the middle of the maze in Seapoint.

GREEN! I'm so happy I used slide film for this day
- the same maze, still going strong(-ish)

Kamersvol Geskenke '12

We spent this past sunny Saturday lying in beanbags, attempting to eavesdrop on Afrikaans conversations, and browsing through beautiful jewellery/ceramics/food at Kamersvol.

Kamersvol Geskenke ('rooms full of gifts') is simply one of the best markets I've ever attended. If you missed out I feel bad for you, son, 'cause you'll have to wait another year for it to happen again. Some things that caught my eye:

kewpie dolls in preparing to dive into little cups...
…they also came as necklaces :)
a cup of Bovril sounds repulsive, but I'd consider it if it came in this handsome mug
look at that grumpy face! My friend bought these guys
Santa Maria, I truly struggled to walk away from this stand empty-handed. So many lovely Mary/Jesus/baby angel statues, but I know I have quite a few already
I took full advantage of all the tasters
 my vibe right now
these guys had the prettiest stand!
"this necklace cost me an arm and a leg"
Mmmm…! I'm a bit sad 'cause all the jewellery was made out of the good stuff (not the stuff that turns your skin green) and so too expensive for me
"I'm a big brave mouse, I go walking through the house…"
 doll wigs!
 Bow Peep's beautiful wooden sign
 how pretty/creepy are these planters?
…and how much does this one remind you of Sid's mutant toys from ToyStory..? AH!
 hey guys!
I feel like I've met this bird before...
oggenstond het goud in die mond

"a walk through real life Pinterest boards" - such an accurate description.

I got overwhelmed/overexcited and forgot to take business cards, so if you recognise any of these products please let me know so I can credit the seller :) Thanks for another beautiful event, Kamers!

d.i.y. Sunday : stamps

I've been experimenting with fabric paint and stamps lately. I made a whole set of my own stamps and now just want to stamp everything with crowns/hearts/diamonds! They're real easy to make, let me show you:

STEP 1 : cut your shape out of the foam (available by the sheet at art shops)
STEP 2 : glue the shape to the cork (also available from art shops. I bought a whole bag.)
STEP 3 : get stamping! Painting fabric paint onto the stamp with a brush between each stamp gives you the neatest finish

Yeah, stamps!

I used my crown-y one and some lilac paint to decorate a head-scarf
