little white mouse

I went to check out the Toffie Pop Culture Conference and Festival today. It looked really fun (it included a jumping castle room and some interactive arty shit) and the market part was nice, but the whole thing was a bit spread out and sometimes I got the feeling I'd arrived too late and missed out on the fun. Sure, I got that some artiste wanted me to write a letter to my love, put it in a bottle and seal it up, cute idea but where was the paper/pen/empty bottles?! Also found myself looking at a lot of the installations and thinking "hmmm...must be conceptual" and/or "WHAT IS 'ART'?"

anywayz enough negativity 'cause I actually bought something really sa-weet there!

HELLO!
from Milame who also had some bea-u-tiful pendants

Then I found this little fella!

!!!
how cute would a cat drinking milk out of this thing look?

making things: sleepy beauties

new project! I've been sewing and I'm SO EXCITED with the results.

I can't share any photos of the finished products yet but I can show you some of the fabrics I've been working with...

…don't they look ever so soft? They are. Soft enough to make you feel sleepy as soon as they touch your skin. Good job I'm making SUPER CUTE ONESIE SLEEPWEAR out of them !

teddies + hearts! and other fun materials too! coming soon ♥

glass blouses

I've been at the sewing machine for the first time in ages. Here's the first of many blouses to come. p.s. this is my first attempt at a collar! Exciting stuff

I know it's a bit bird-y-over-kill but how lovely is my necklace from h&m?!

who doesn't?

love that dog

On my 7th birthday I received the ultimate gift; a puppy. A Rhodesian-Ridgeback-cross-something I'd chosen myself from the pet-shop outside Cavendish. I named him Chips because he was kind of the colour of a beef-flavoured Simba chip, and what more reason could a seven year old need?

He was a great pal to me and I loved him very much.

Shortly after his 5th birthday (celebrated, as always, with the gift of a hoof to chew on) he became unable to keep his food down. We booked an appointment with the vet and the night before we cuddled on the couch watching the weekly Dharma & Greg/Frasier double-bill and feeling excited for the vet to fix him in the morning. Although I spent the entire day at school writing pages and pages of bargains and wishes ('I promise to walk you every day if you get better' etc) my prayers weren't answered (which is weird 'cause usually God is suuuch a good listener) and I knew something was up when both of my parents came to fetch me from school.

At 5 o'clock we went to say goodbye. One last tickle behind the ears and I never saw my boy again.

9 years later and I still get teary thinking about Chips. Less & less each year but always on March 25th. If you haven't had a dog in your life you are missing out on one of the greatest bonds you will know. What a lovely thing it is to grow up with a best friend who will let you pretend to ride them like a horse and lick your face when you are crying.

p.s. sorry for the sad/soppy post, on a happier note...

AH! how do pug-owners get anything done?!

LDN DAY 8

I'd heard great things about the Soho tea shop Maison Bertaux including the fact that Noel Fielding is a regular so obviously had to pay a visit.

everything about the place is unusual + fun + cute

graffiti in the bathroom:

"Every one wants to be Alexa Chung"

"Noel Fielding is an anagram"

there was loads of art work hanging up:
 (Noel by Noel)

I ate a delightful decadent delicious chocolate cheesecake

it was such a sweet tea-time-in-London experience!

So I didn't bump into Noel Fielding BUT as we were leaving I spotted David Tennant (aka DR WHO) outside!

I asked him for a photo and he obliged. He was very nice + friendly ☺

LDN DAY 7

I went for some Sunday night comedy at Up The Creek in Greenwich. All 4 comedians were funny but the opening act, Joe Lycett, was HILARIOUS. I found some YouTube clips of him (here and here) which are great but he was even better when I saw him.

He is really camp + over the top and describes himself as 'deliciously middle-class'. One of my favourite bits was when he described an old lady staring at him for a rather long time as she came out of the grocery shop. He thought maybe he was finally being recognised from off the telly but then heard her turn to her husband and say ''I just remembered we forgot to buy faggots''.

We always used to giggle at these when passing them in the frozen foods aisle. Firstly what the hell are 'pork faggots' ?! Second of all I personally couldn't being myself to enjoy something cooked up by a 'Mr Brain'.

LDN DAY 6

had a brief moment where I wished I had a walking impediment when I spotted these walking sticks at Portobello Market

LDN DAY 5

Would you look at these! I saw these RIDICULOUS gorilla Adidas shoes in Camden and they were in my size so I just had to try them on

They were actually really comfy but I think life would be too much to handle if you had these guys flapping about on your feet giving thumbs-ups so everyone.

Then I bought the cutest booties on earth

!

They're a perfect rip-off of those VIVIENNE WESTWOOD ANGLOMANIA + MELISSA boots that my heart has wanted for so long and they were roughly a million times cheaper so...!

LDN DAY 4

We went for a walk in the charming area of Blackheath and stopped off for warm drinks at Black Vanilla. It is SO LOVELY. They make amazing looking frozen yoghurt + cute cupcakes + sweet treats. I had a decadent choccy hot and the most delicious brownie I've had in a long time

Then we walked through Greenwich park and ran into a pug

LDN DAY 3

The last time I was in London I saw a naked man stand on the Fourth Plinth for an hour. This time I saw the statue called 'Powerless Structures, Fig 101' by the Scandinavians Elmgreen & Dragset. The child on a rocking horse pokes fun at the many statues of men on horseback you see around London. It's shiny and cute and I love it!

LDN: DAY 2

I'd love to live in one of these pastel homes

LDN: DAY 1
